Discipline is a good thing. I didn’t understand it for awhile. Wondering what the real meaning of it meant. It always used to leave a bad taste in my mouth, like someone was making me do something I didn’t want to do.
I do feel I’ve come to enjoy the word now.
When talking about health discipline, It really has to come from within. If someone imposes on you, that type of discipline will come and go as quickly as the breeze. It has to be YOU making the decision and sticking it out. Discipline can only truly be your choice! Discipline can be as simple as choosing greens over fries, turning the t.v. off at 9pm, or waking up earlier to do a workout.
It can also look like a little more structured too.
Jocko Willink, a well known navy seal turned inspiration for many, talks about discipline.
“So make the decision. Make the commitment. Become the discipline-embrace its cold and relentless power. And it will make you better and stronger and smarter and faster and healthier than anything else. And most important: It will make you free!”
I used to think that habits were these annoying things that people did. Now I know that they are ways we can better our lives, better it in such a way that it truly frees us.
