What is your fitness background? I never remember sitting as a child. I was always moving. I started running 5K road races when I was 11. In high school I ran varsity cross country and track all 4 years and played on the soccer team. I ran collegiately for Stetson University and then transferred to the University of North Florida.
While I was at UNF I started getting a taste for longer distances and triathlons. Being active is just a part of who I am. I love testing my body and seeing how it can change. The Simple Gym is what I envision as a great way to have cardio, weights, and the simplicity of your own home all in one. After becoming a RN and having a sweet baby, life was literally spinning. The baby weight was rough. Energy and time were nonexistent.
The Simple Gym is a way for me to be active and share that activity in this wonderful community.
Are you a trainer? I am not a trainer. I am a RN and active mom.
Can you make me a personalize workout plan? Yes! I would love to talk/email with you and come up with your goals. From there we can work together to focus on the movements and food that will best suit you.
Can you recommended any health books? So glad you asked! I love reading and reading about health is topic #1! The book that really changed the way I looked at food is called Deep Nutrition by Dr. Cate Shanahan. I also love any thing by Micheal Pollen and a must read is Sleep Smarter by Shawn Stevenson. The Supple Leopard by Kelly Starrett is a great tutorial on functional movements.
Where can I find you on social media? I post 3-4 workouts a week on Instagram. Most of them have descriptions of each movement too.
What is a burpee? Burpees are like explosive push ups. Get in to push up form and then jump up. Click here for a burpee demonstration.
What is a Round? A round is how many times you do the total workout. For example, if I tell you to do, 5 push ups, 5 burpees, 5 dips, one round would be-5 push ups, 5 burpees, 5 dips. So 3 rounds would be 3x
I don’t have a dumbbell or kettle bell, how can I do workouts that use those? I would suggest using something that seems a sensible weight for you. Remember this is your workout. A heavier book always works or gallon of water. You don’t need a lot of equipment to get a great workout.
I can’t do some of the exercises, do you have modifications? Yes, almost every exercise comes with a modification. I will be able to show you those in the videos. Once you become more familiar with the workouts, you can modify them to your needs.
How can I sign up for the email list?
